There are three methods of connecting shed components:
1. The Fully Welded Type
2. The "Bolt up" Type using Connection Plates
3. The Stud Frame Type used mainly for House Framing
The welded type (see the figure 1) uses a fully
welded plate at each end of the rafter which butts on to the column.
The base plate is also fully welded.
This type of shed is the "Rolls Royce"
model. Very little maintenance is required, minimum corrosion occurs
at the welded areas and may need a little touch of paint every five
or 10 the years.
The bolt up shed (see figure 2) uses
connecting plates with bolts at the rafters and columns. This type
is usually cheaper because of the minimum manufacturing time. This
type of shed is maintenance free.
Steelframe Buildings uses a series
of high tenstile tec screws and high tenstile bolts in assembly.
The stud frame (see figure3 ) sheds
come flat packed and are easy to erect. The stud centres are 600
mm, 750 mm or 1,000 mm standard, depending on location and
wind loading.
